Biography of Karen A. Knippa

Karen Knippa is a student of spirituality, philosophy, and energetic medicine. She has practiced acupuncture, herbology, massage therapy, reiki and other forms of energetic healing for over 12 years under her Texas Licensures. She has several teachers from many traditions who have influenced her love of people and her desire to assist them through integrative medicine. Karen believes in a balanced approach to healing and well-being including spiritual development, mental discipline, emotional balance, physical strengthening through diet, exercise, breath-work, and various forms of bodywork.

One of her earliest introductions to alternative medicine was through a television show on PBS that Karen viewed as a young girl of seven. It was a survey of medicinal practices from around the world that intrigued her with the possibilities and ranges of healing that can occur for humans. Following this experience, her grandfather who had a severe heart condition and bad back pain, sought out acupuncture as a treatment at a time when acupuncture was not regulated in the state of Texas. Though he was a very conservative rancher and farmer with strong leanings to the right he managed to believe that "God put everything on this earth for our betterment" so why not use it? This statement and the subsequent relief he received through ongoing treatment further interested Karen in pursuing a path less traveled as she grew older.

Karen decided at an early age to ask questions and seek out the truth of things in her own way. This did not always make others comfortable nor was she always well received; but, that was the price she decided to pay to walk her path. Perhaps though, it was simply how her path was meant to unfold. In her studies she was fortunate enough to be introduced to many religions, philosophies, and spiritual practices including the Self Realization Fellowship, Sant Mat, Eastern Orthodoxy, Falun Dafa, Sivananda Yoga as well as more traditionally recognized religious affiliations. She was also privileged to study with those who practice Alchemy, Hermetic and Native American traditions.

Karen has taken what she learned from the best of each of these worlds and strives to apply their lessons to her daily journey. As a quiet poet and writer she strives to express through her work the many "worlds of wonder" that exists within each of us. Each life story, each moment in time, each thought we have is simply a mirror reflecting our light back at us. Sometimes the reflections are beautiful and sometimes horrible but in the end they are only pieces of the whole. These pieces should not be judged harshly but gathered together and reverently returned to their original state. It is through the mechanism of forgiveness and acceptance that we can wonder at and see the wonder of our existence.
